First, if you’ve been eyeing The Emerging Artist Retreat in New Mexico, folks who registered through yesterday received a special $750 off + a private coaching session ($500 value).

I meant to send a reminder yesterday, so I'm joyfully extending these bonuses through Friday 4/18 at 7pm PT. Sometimes we just need more time. 😌

Alright, Reader, here's what's on my mind this afternoon.

I'm historically challenged by consistency and discipline. If my constitution could be summed up in two words, they are dreaming and activation. ✨

I think it and do it, then hop to the next. Cool in some ways, tricky in others since a life of plenty — one that feels rich and meaningful — does require discipline and consistency. 🫠

This morning I spent time with folks Julianna Silva, my beloved amiga, brought together around business finances and the theme of consistency rose up.

This afternoon I did a workout with Jess Sims which also surfaced consistency.

Just before typing this email I read one from Alexandra Franzen that spoke to choices we make that require consistency and how changing our minds is also necessary.

All to say, I've got clarity in a few areas of my life I've been foggy on for longer than I wish were true. I'm talking future, business and health-trajectory clarity. Core life stuff.

I can attribute my clarity to discipline and consistency (go me!), and these 3 truths:

  • Clarity comes not from thinking, but from rest and massaging ideas we think are "it". Brain fog sucks, but it's a place to feel around for answers, take naps, sleep in, go to bed early, write and rest some more. You can't force clarity.
  • Changing your mind is vital. Gripping to outcomes is the fastest path to killing progress. Soften your grip on what you want to happen and allow yourself to change your mind – maybe you want X to happen but if you're honest with yourself Y is really what you want. Change your mind.
  • Do less and get there faster. Packing a million things into your calendar and plans is the second fastest path to killing progress. Comb through and get rid of all non-essentials, and anything that disallows you from going deep with Y.

Lots of love,
Annie

p.s. My weekly fitness formula is 2 · 2 · 2 which includes 2 strength workouts, 2 walks/hikes, 2 rides (Peloton app + regular stationary bike). What can you apply a simple formula like this to? Remember, you get to adjust/change your mind along the way.

p.p.s. Excited to watch the new season of Hacks! What are you watching?

I didn't know I was an artist until last year. The feeling has been trying to steer me on to the path for literal decades, I'm on it now. Join me.
