Hi Reader, good morning. ☀️

My goodness, I've wanted to share so many things over the past few days, weeks and months but it's been tricky to decide on what parts, so I haven't shared much. Maybe you'll care about some of it, while someone else here in my community cares about something else. Tricky I tell you.

Over the years, I've received 181 email responses that have qualified for my "Nice Words" email folder. Some stuff lands, so I'll just share the things and we'll see if/what lands.

This will be a long email (1199 words as it turned out) so I'll group things so you can skim, skip or sink in depending on your interest. K? Okay.

Stuff I've Been Up To

The Emerging Artist Retreat.

It was last week and I'm still floating. 🫧

My goodness, there really aren't words so I'll keep it short by saying it was divine and my favorite experience to curate in my 22 years curating live experiences.

And....over the 4 days, we had spacious time alone every day + meaningful time to build relationships.

We contemplated, created, danced, laughed, cried, ATE, hiked, saw priceless works of art.

My beloved guests made their way from Colorado, Arizona and around New Mexico, and have become some of my forever people. It was very special.

I was born to gather people. To take care of people. To curate experiences and be the host. As Matt put it, some directors also star in their movies.

If you want to come to my 2027 retreat, join the waitlist here. And hire Caro to cook for you if you're in New Mexico! 🤤💕

The Culture Club.

I really want/should be talking about this more!!

There's just so much happening and I've just allowed myself to flow with The Culture Club without needing to brag.

But it's worth bragging about! It's been/is incredibly special.

Quick history: In 2019 I led the first cohort of the then Women of Color Culture Club. In 2023, after the 11th cohort, I sunset the WOC Culture Club and spent two years with it on my heart... wondering if/how I might gather with people in such a way again.

In 2025 I opened the doors The Culture Club. An experiment based on research and data I'd collected from the hundreds of gatherings I'd facilitated through WOCCC and other spaces.

The Culture Club is an inclusive community for those who identify as sensitive and ambitious, and who feel a bit stuck in some area of their life.

It has 30 founding members from mid-20's to early 60's in all different industries. Gah, I love everyone so so much. I want to fly to visit and have everyone over for dinner. All in due time, luckily we have forever.

Since June we've gathered 13 times. We meet twice a month on Zoom and since October I've been inviting my trusted teachers to join as guest teachers once a month.

Today/Friday, we're gathering with Majdah alQuhtani. Majdah is a special human in my life. She's my financial advisor who has made her way in an industry dominated by white men as, likely, the only ethnically Jewish-Arab woman in the game. I love her.

In February, my friend Samara Bay is joining us. She's the bestselling author of Permission to Speak. She's an absolute delight and has directly coached me over the years with finding my voice, literally and spiritually I gotta say. Get her book here.

In April, my friend Dora Rankin is guesting. Dora's a brilliant business woman. I particularly love how sensitive she is (it's true Dora!). We were travel companions and each other's emergency contacts several years ago. She's come to visit me in New Mexico and I'm going to visit her in May at her fab signature event called The Heart Sell Summit. You should come! Get your ticket here.

Last year in The Culture Club, we were joined by one of my beloved rest teachers and creative mentor Dr. Chanti Tacoronte-Perez, my dear friend and business advisor Julianna Silva, and my fabulous friend and style mentor Brandi Johnson.

I LOVE BRINGING AMAZING PEOPLE TOGETHER TO LEARN FROM OTHER AMAZING PEOPLE!

I keep wanting to open doors for new people to join us in The Culture Club, but it's difficult to find the right time.

I'm not doing business as usual, I'm leading this community on vibes. I will invite new humans to join us sooner than later, but if you're craving down-to-earth community to grow alongside, lmk by joining the waitlist here which helps me figure out timing.

Stuff I'm Tinkering With

  • My art practice.
  • Cover letters.
  • My bangs.
  • My sketchbook...s. Many are being tinkered with. 🫠
  • Watercolors.
  • Job search filters.
  • Art.
  • And art.

I'm considering the #100dayproject next month to tinker even more with my art. I'd be doing the free version, not the paid one.

Stuff Being Discussed Over Here

How essential recovery time is.

How ICE agents and debt collectors are like shit on the sidewalk. They're cut from the same cloth.

The book, Unmasking Autism by Dr. Devon Price. Get it here and share with everyone you know, autistic or not.

The trademark infringement chaos I've been dealing with since November. Happy to say I got Meta and Shopify to make the person take all the things down/change the name. The nerve of this person. You should have seen their response when I first contacted them. Don't fuck with me. I come in peace but I mean business.

Cats.

Relocating.

School. The semester started this week for us and my nephew. I'm not taking studio classes this time, both my classes are online so I can be nimble given my job search. I'm taking art history and queer theories. Matt's taking a full schedule on campus. Noa too.

Sudden hair loss the size of a golf ball (and the promising relief that it seems to be growing back).

How no dermatologists in my city take my insurance and won't let me pay out of pocket. What even TF? But it's fine because it seems to be growing in and I'm fine.

This leads me to questions I shared in my last email that I keep asking myself.

  • How's your attention and energy?
  • What fate/vision/hopes are you dreaming into long term?
  • What hopes/goals do you have right now, short term?
  • What feels possible?
  • What feels impossible?

Some questions to consider (even if things are great):

  • What's the root of the situation?
  • What needs to be released?
  • What will lift you up/support you?
  • What power do you need to call back to yourself?

Ask and free write and/or pull a card for each question. The answers continue to be very clarifying.

Ways to work together in 2026

Back Pocket Guidance is coaching for busy people & those on a budget. My most popular service since 2019.

Eventually I'll open doors for The Culture Club

Alrighty then, we made it. I feel like this captures much of what's been going on, and I hope you found something in it for yourself.

With so much love,
